Honeymoon Destinations: Where Would You Go?
Feb 26, 2013
Ah, the honeymoon. Your hard work and planning has finally paid off – the big day is officially over, and now you can relax and spend some one on one time with your spouse!
The honeymoon is often the most anticipated wedding-related event. That is, for the couple at least. After all, anyone who’s ever planned a wedding knows that it’s a time consuming job and certainly a stressful one at that! It can also be one of the biggest splurges as far as wedding-related expenses when you take into account all costs (airfare, hotel stay, food and drink, transportation, and activities). Even though it can break the bank, many couples still stick to the honeymoon tradition and spend the extra cash to unwind.
In order to get an idea of the top honeymoon destinations, we asked our readers where they would spend theirs if they didn’t have to worry about a budget. Warm weather spots with a shining sun and sandy beaches used to be the most desirable, but now it looks like Europe is the place to want to be! So many people said they’d love to visit countries such as Greece, Italy, or Ireland; others claimed they would love to tour all around the continent and visit the biggest cities. “So much history…so much to do and take in!” gushed Ashley F. “A girl can dream!”
Naturally, there are still brides who yearn for a seaside getaway. Hawaii and Bora Bora were the two most mentioned hot spots. Hans D. shared his insight on the beautiful Tahitian islands and certainly sold us! “All bungalows are on the water, with breakfast delivered to you via native canoes. You’ll never have any vacations better than there.” Other popular beach destinations that were mentioned included Fiji, St. Lucia and Seychelles. Canada, Asia, Alaska, Australia and New Zealand were other destinations that were named more than once.
Our office manager Kristi is currently planning her wedding and honeymoon and took a moment to share a bit of advice. “If you’re trying to save money and want to stick to a budget, definitely keep your eyes open for all inclusive packages. It’s really the best way to get the biggest bang for your buck.”
