A Perfect DIY Lemonade Recipe for Your Backyard Wedding

If you’re looking for a perfect drink for a rustic, summer, backyard or farm wedding then lemonade is a perfect way to celebrate.  It is a cheap DIY recipe that can easily serve hundreds of guests for virtually pennies a glass – can easily be made hard for adults with a splash of alcohol (served on the side) and is also perfect for those attendees who are under the age to drink.  Perfect in classic yellow or in pretty pink, lemonade is a refreshing drink for your summer time wedding.  Here’s a great recipe for DIY wedding lemonade:

You may think you know exactly how to make lemonade – just squeeze some lemons into sugared water and you’ve got a refreshing drink to quench your thirst. By using this method, you’ll get your lemonade…but not the best!

Most experts will agree that the trick to making the best lemonade involves making sugar syrup. If you notice, dumping sugar into water won’t disperse – all the sugar will sink to the bottom, and you’ll get a workout stirring it to make it all dissolve. Instead, dissolve the sugar in hot water to ensure that the sugar is evenly distributed.

One cup of sugar mixed with one cup of water will create the sweetest concoction. (Of course, you can reduce the sugar if you wish it too be less sweet.) Combine the contents into a saucepan over low heat on your stove to dissolve the sugar evenly. This is how you make your sugar syrup.

Six lemons should create enough lemon juice – squeeze them out as much as you can, or use a juicer if you have one handy. You may want to use a strainer to get those pesty seeds out afterward.

Combine your sugar syrup, lemon juice and 3-4 cups of water (depending on your taste) to a pitcher and mix. Refrigerate the lemonade or add ice and there you have it – the perfect homemade lemonade.

You can always garnish your lemonade with a few more slices of fresh lemons, or even other fruits such as strawberries, raspberries (this not only adds a bit of extra flavor, but is a natural way of making pink lemonade) or even blueberries. A couple of mint sprigs also add a lovely touch.
