		<description>I completely disagree on the dress code. No, obviously as a guest you should never arrive at a party disheveled or dressed inappropriately (e.g. naked, offensive clothes, etc). I fail to see the problem with wearing jeans or sneakers as long as it is appropriate for the type of party that is being held. 

After we got engaged, our immediate closest friends wanted to get together to congratulate us. Since it would have been impossible to meet with everyone separately, we decided to throw an a very informal engagement party. We figured since these guests were going to be the wedding party anyways, they might as well meet earlier on and get to know each other. 

We had a BBQ in our backyard. I think it would have been silly not to expect our quests to show up in shorts (it was August) and flip flops. Did they break any sort of etiquette rules? Of course not. 

If it had been at a casual restaurant, then yes, maybe polos/khakis but to force female guests to wear skirts? Um, are we still living in the dark ages?</description>
