Spring Is In The Air!

Mar 15, 2011

May flowers are not the only thing April showers bring – they bring lots of weddings too!  I can’t wait to say that “spring has sprung” – I’m sick of the cold, and I know brides who are looking forward to their warmer-weather weddings are too!  From April all the way through early June, there’s a ton of spring weddings taking place.  If you’re attending a wedding during this time, you’re sure to see a lot of spring themed wedding favors around!  The great thing about spring favors are the colors:  they range from light pastels, to bright shades of pinks, purples, greens, and yellows.  Flowers, birds, perfect pairs, butterflies and even ladybugs are just some of the themes that grace our favors.  Below you’ll find a bunch of what I think are our cutest spring and garden wedding favors and accessories!

1.  Showered with Love Couple Figurine Wedding Cake Top – This sweet wedding cake topper is brand new and perfect for any romantic couple whose wedding is in the spring!  This darling couple is smooching beneath an umbrella – and it’s complete with the bride wearing her galoshes under her gown.

2.  Beautiful Butterfly Cake Topper / Decor Sets (4 Colors) – The name of this cake topper certainly fits perfectly, because it really is beautiful!  This realistic cake topper is one of a kind and available in four of spring’s most popular colors.  Your guests will be in awe!

3.  Miniature Metal Garden Watering Can Wedding Favors (Set of 12) – You an add a lot of charm to these rustic wedding favors with personalized ribbon or labels.  Fill them up with flowers, seeds, gardening tools or candy and “shower” your guests with love!

4.  “Love Birds in the Window” Ceramic Salt & Pepper Shakers – This best-selling favor is suitable for any spring wedding with its light, spring-y packaging.  Your guests won’t be able to help smiling at this adorable favor and will always remember your special day when they reach for the salt & pepper.

5.  “Daisy Delight” Gerbera Daisy Favor Box (Set of 24) – These bold and bright favor boxes are perfect for holding all your delicious and delectable treats!  Available in hot pink or tangerine orange, the boxes are also personalized with matching personalized stickers for a really unique giveaway.

6.  Mini Blown Glass Heart Vase (Set of 4) – I have an obsession with bud vases, and these ones make the perfect addition to any reception table!  Add a single daisy or wildflower to the vase and voila – instant charm!  The personalized clings add a whimsical touch and are available in a wide variety of colors to match your theme.

7.  “Fluttering Heart” Butterfly Bottle Stopper – Wine stoppers are always a popular favor, and this butterfly stopper puts a sweet twist on a classic.  But hurry – the low-cost clearance pricing hints that it may be discontinued soon.

8.  “Garden Park” Black Mini Lantern – I think these mini lanterns would be extra adorable at an outdoor reception on a cool spring evening.  They’ll absolutely illuminate your table settings and make a great addition to any of your guests’ decks or patios.

9.  “Love Blossoms” Personalized Favor Card (Set of 12) – An oldie but a goodie!  We’ve had these plantable seed cards for quite some time, and I think they’re adorable if you double them as your place cards.  Personalization is free!

Off With the Old, & On With the New!

Jan 7, 2011

I could kick myself for not writing a blog to wrap up 2010, but unfortunately the office staff was graced with a stomach virus right before the holiday.  I myself was out on New Year’s Eve and never got the chance to blog.  So, I’d like to start off by wishing everyone a Happy New Year!  (I know, I’m definitely more than a little late.)  A new year means a new wedding season, which also means new wedding favors.  Brides who love to stay up to date are beginning to look for the newest, hottest and trendiest favors to use at their weddings.  The Little Things Staff has been plugging away trying to offer all you anxious brides more favors, and if you check out our new arrivals you’ll see some of the new stuff on the market.  But I’d like to take the time to list what I thought were the hottest and most popular wedding favors of 2010, and give a little preview of what I think will be hot sellers in 2011 too!

Popular Wedding Favors for 2010

1.  The Fleur de Lis Motif & Damask Designs – Sales for these prints skyrocketed this past wedding season, and it’s no wonder as to why.  All the girls here at Little Things adore both of the Parisian-inspired designs:  we love the romantic vibe, the classy style and the simplicity of all these wedding favors.  In fact, we even give our display window at our showroom in Sayreville, NJ a Paris theme around March.  I think the popularity of these prints will continue through 2011!

2.  DIY Favor Boxes – They’re great for lower budgets and saving a couple bucks, but I personally hate paper favor boxes and hope these favors are on their way out.  I feel the same way about mint tins.  Read # 2 on my 2011 list for my favorite candy alternative.

3.  Wine Bottle Stoppers – I can’t say I don’t like these, because I love wine stoppers and have (and still) recommended them to many brides that come into our shop.  I love that they’re practical, perfect for both men and women, and available for every single budget out there.  I don’t necessarily think that these are on their way out, but with all the new practical favors on the market (see below!), I definitely think brides will be re-considering.

4.  Wine Charms – I like wine charms to put on your guests’ wine glasses, but I definitely wouldn’t hand them out as a favor.  I don’t think they’re something that would be used everyday.  I certainly wouldn’t use them!

5.  Place Card Frames – I don’t think place card frames are on their way out, I just think that place card holders are going to become popular again!  You will too once you check out some of the unique place card holders we now offer (see below!).

Popular Wedding Favors for 2011

1.  Updated Favor Jars – It seems that the ever-popular and best selling favor jar is being pushed to the side with all of the newly designed ones that are now available.  With little latched “message in a bottle” like jars, cylindrical jars with cork tops, mason jars and even heart-shaped jars, brides now have a lot more options.

2.  Keepsake Boxes / Candy -  Rather than a flimsy, cheap paper favor box, why not give your guests something they can actually use?  We offer teeny mirrored boxes, intricate jewel footed wooden boxes and other trinket boxes that can easily hold a fine delicacy, like truffles.  They can use the box to hold small items, like jewelry after your wedding.  I also love the idea of displaying a single truffle on these clear acrylic phantom chairs.
3.  Practical and Unique Wedding Favors – I was ooh-ing and aww-ing at some of the adorable and practical stuff that we now offer.  Sugar tongs, recipe coasters, bottle openers and edible stuff like drink mixes and honey are so cute!  If I went to a wedding, I’d like to receive something I can actually use…or eat.

4.  Place Card Holders – Real coral, miniature wedding rings, chess pieces and even vintage typewriters (so cute – these are shown in the picture).  I wouldn’t give the place card holder as a favor, but for seating?  Absolutely darling!

5.  Personalization, Personalization, Personalization! – Personalized items have always been popular, as well as personalized tags attached to your wedding favors.  It looks like more stuff is able to be personalized this wedding season, so I’m expecting a lot of happy brides!  Personalized wedding fans, candles, miniature favor pails and more hot chocolate and coffee (with so much personalization – more than ever!) are sure to be crowd-pleasers.

Looking forward to the new year with all of you!  PS – Don’t forget to check out our new wedding accessories too.  We have so much new stuff!  <3 Kelsey

Cookie Wedding Favor Ideas

Dec 20, 2010

This past weekend, Team Little Things took a day to spend quality time together (off the clock) and get into the Christmas spirit. We all met at Erica’s house for her first annual Holiday Cookie Party! While listening to classic Christmas tunes and sipping on hot cocoa, we rolled, cut, baked and decorated away – for hours! Some of our delicious morsels included white chocolate covered mint chocolate cookies that were sprinkled with crushed candy cane, gingerbread men, iced sugar cookies, almond nut bars, and chocolate chip shortbread cookies that were supposed to be drizzled with chocolate…but we got lazy. Anyway, while playing Betty Crocker I was inspired for a blog idea: cookie wedding favors! Why not bake your own cookies for your guests to take home and enjoy? Especially if your wedding is around Christmas…after all, during the holiday season almost everyone is baking! But some of us may not be as domestic as others, so if you’re scared you’ll burn the house down, here are some other great ideas to stick with a cookie favor theme.

1. If you can’t bake your own cookies, why not urge your guests to instead?  Our Personalized Sugar Cookie Mixes are available in a classic wedding theme, winter and fall designs.  This adorable favor makes approximately 8 delicious sugar cookies. It’s also available with an optional heart handle mini whisk. So cute!

2. Cookie cutters have always been a popular and practical favor. Many couples want to give their guests something they know won’t go to waste, and a cookie cutter certainly won’t. Even though it may not be used every single day, it will come in handy when it’s time for baking. Our cookie cutters are availalbe in fun shapes such as the ever popular heart, the word “LOVE,” autumn leaves, fun beach themes, and butterflies too.

3. Not everyone has a sweet tooth, but you can stay in the baking theme with kitchen wedding favors. A measuring spoon favor, a whisk, or perhaps a kitchen timer are some of our most popular and useful kitchen favors.  Like cookie cutters, these favors are practical, but they can be used in a kitchen every day.

4. If you don’t have the skills or the time to bake cookies for your wedding, fear not – we offer cookie wedding favors to give to your guests. These yummy treats are baked and customized for each and every order, guaranteeing freshness from the moment they arrive. From chocolate dipped oreos and fortune cookies to personalized Biscotti and photo cookies, the limits are endless! Guests will be able to appreciate your good taste in design and flavor.

Happy baking, and enjoy your week! Just one week until Christmas…have you finished your shopping yet?

Warm Wedding Favors for the Cold Days Ahead

Oct 22, 2010

It’s starting to get chilly here in New Jersey, and the girls and I are doing our best to try and stay warm.  No longer is the air conditioning or the window open in our office.  We’re bringing out our furry boots, scarves and sweaters, and keeping nice and toasty with coffee and hot chocolate.  Last month, brides began buying their wedding favors for their winter weddings.  Beverage wedding favors consist of some of our most popular favors, and for winter we have hot drinks that are the perfect remedy for the cold weather.

One of the obsessions among all Little Things employees is coffee.  Whether it’s a strong blend, hazelnut or french vanilla, we cannot resist!  A couple of us also favor hot chocolate.  We offer delicious personalized hot drink mixes such as coffee (which we have all sampled here – and it is delicious!), cappuccino, hot cocoa and tea (all are offered with the same designs).  Additionally, we offer loose tea in tins, and round tea bags in discs with different personalization options.  Finally, and our newest addition, is our hot apple cider mix.  The packets are available with an optional whisk, and aren’t just available with wedding designs–you can choose specific labels for your fall, winter or Las Vegas themed wedding too.  We also offer other hot chocolate and cappuccino in the same apple cider designs as well.

In addition to all the yummy drinks, we have similar favors that you may want to coordinate with the drink mixes:

Coffee - Coffee scoops, coasters & mugs.

Cappuccino - Coasters & candles.

Hot Cocoa – Brown hot chocolate mugs.

Tea - Tea infusers, teapot timers, & favor boxes/place card holders.

Be sure to check out all of our beverage wedding favors to browse through all of the favors mentioned above and much more.  And if you’re looking for wedding favors for the upcoming seasons, we also have fall / autumn wedding favors and winter wedding favors.  Some of the stuff is really unique, like personalized silk fall leaf petals, best selling leaf bottle stoppers, and pumpkin design brownies for the current season.  There’s also personalized snow globes, snowflake design Rice Krispies, and heart shaped hand warmers for the even colder months that are soon to come.

Happy shopping!  Have a great weekend! <3 Kelsey

Fall in Love, or Fall in Chocolate?

Oct 19, 2010

In our Little Things office, we absolutely adore chocolate.  I myself am a self-diagnosed chocoholic (I definitely have 1+ chocolate fixes per day), and the rest of the girls love it just as much as I do.  In fact, I’m actually eating a chocolate brownie as I write this blog!  Whenever Erica visits Finland, she brings back Fazer chocolate, which we’re all obsessed with.  Other favorites of ours include molten chocolate cake, and chocolate fondue.  Plus, there’s always hot chocolate by the coffee maker.  Chocolate is one of the most popular foods in the world.  That’s why chocolate wedding favors are some of our best selling favors!

Instead of worrying about whether or not your guests will save the candle wedding favor, put a photo in the place card holder, or use the bottle stopper you gave, give them something you know won’t go to waste.  That’s why edible favors are such a great idea.  Who doesn’t love to eat?  Sure there’s candy, but majority of people will probably prefer a chocolate dipped fudge brownie to a tin of mints.  Below you’ll find some of the great chocolate wedding favors Little Things has to offer:

1.  Brownie Wedding Favors – These are definitely one of our most popular wedding favors.  These delectable brownies are a soft, chewy fudge dipped in a creamy chocolate, and designed to coordinate with your wedding.  With designs such as filigree scrolls, flowers, monograms, and even brides & grooms, you’re bound to find something that you like.  But no matter what design you choose, the brownies are going to taste delicious no matter what!

2.  Chocolate Dipped Rice Krispies – These are just as delicious as the brownies, though a little bit pricier.  But the designs are so intricate and beautiful, you may not be able to resist.  With Rice Krispies cut and decorated like wedding gowns, tiered cakes, flowers, lobsters & lighthouses, snowflakes & snowmen, and even sushi…well, they’re definitely one of a kind.

3.  Personalized Hershey Chocolate Candy Bars & Wrappers – Choose from standard Hershey Bars (1.55 oz. of creamy milk chocolate), Hershey’s miniatures (in a variety of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, Krackel & Mr. Goodbar) and Hershey’s Kisses.  All are offered with the same classic wedding designs, some exclusive designs–that can only be found here at Little Things!–and free personalization.  We also have holiday, birthday, quinceanera, sweet sixteen, and designs for religious events as well.  And for lower budgets & DIY favors, we also sell just the Hershey bar and miniatures wrappers.

4.  Gourmet Cookies – From Oreos, fortune cookies, graham crackers, Nutter Butters and biscotti, each of these yummy cookies are dipped in chocolate and designed beautifully.  From classic bride & groom designs, monograms, flowers, pumpkins, and even photo cookies, these delicious treats are sure to have your guests’ mouths watering.

5.  Personalized Hot Cocoa – Many of these are available printed in the same designs as the Personalized Hershey’s Chocolate mentioned above.  But we also offer a couple of other hot cocoa packets with different designs and packaging – some are even available with an optional whisk!  We also have adorable hot chocolate mugs that you can give to your guests along with the hot cocoa.  It makes a great winter wedding favor!

Which would you prefer:  falling in love, or falling in chocolate?  Well, when you use chocolate wedding favors at your wedding, you get the best of both worlds.

Enjoy your week, everyone!  <3 Kelsey

Wedding Favors for Every Culture

Oct 15, 2010

Here at Little Things, we believe in diversity. I’m Irish & Italian, Kristi is Polish & German, Alecia is a self-proclaimed “mutt”  (with German, Italian, Irish & English in her blood), Erica is German & Russian, Ben is Puerto Rican & African American, and Jessica is Colombian & Dominican. We’re all about embracing other cultures: Alecia’s boyfriend is Egyptian, and she’s having a great time feeling out new customs. There’s a lot of new food, music and people she’s recently filled her life with. Erica’s heart lies in Finland, where she’s been visiting back and forth for the past three years. Not only do our personal lives reflect our interest in other cultures, but the wedding favors we sell do too.

Little Things Favors is designed for easy navigation and simple searching for favors. This is by color, price, season and most popularly: by theme. Lately we’ve been talking about and beginning to expand our selection of ethnic wedding favors. If you’re ever visiting our website, you’ll see we have sections dedicated to specific favors such as Irish, Asian, Indian – even French wedding favors (see our Paris section). Here’s a sneak peek at what each section has in store for you:

Irish - There’s lots of green, and shamrocks for the luck of the Irish! We have old time Irish blessing poems printed on plantable seed cards or sold separately with pewter pocket clovers to ensure good luck. Instead of silk rose petals, why not go with personalized silk shamrock rose petals? There’s even Irish wedding collections.

Asian - Cherry blossom or double happiness themed favors, as well as chopsticks, fortune cookies, fans and eco-friendly favors made of bamboo. We offer a beautiful cherry blossom wedding collection, and Asian inspired cake toppers as well.

Indian - The newest addition to our wedding favors by theme, and it’s full of beautiful colors such as deep reds and pretty gold hues. Our “Lucky Elephant” favors are best selling, and we love the paisley designs on some of our favors. We also have gorgeous mirrored golden lac boxes intricately detailed with beads. Don’t forget to check out our Indian cake toppers too!

French - Paris themed weddings are extremely popular, but if you’re just trying to show off your roots there are great favors here for you. In addition to our damask and fleur de lis themed favors, we have the cutest place card holders modeled after the Eiffel tower (a best seller!). There’s also mint tins, bookmarks, keychains and more designed after the same beautiful landmark.

Hope you decide to check out more of our wedding favors by theme. Have a great weekend! <3 Kelsey

Go Green! Planning Your Eco-Friendly Wedding

Aug 9, 2010

Every year we get more and more new favors, and this year we couldn’t help but notice that eco-friendly wedding favors are becoming more and more popular.  I personally love eco-friendly favors, because majority of them are practical…and so cute!  Here at our Little Things office, I encourage everyone to be eco-conscious—I insist on recycling, try not to waste a lot of paper or packaging materials, and recently even purchased recycled post its!  (We use so many of them anyway.)  If you even look at my favorite favors section, it says that I love eco-friendly favors, and even features a couple of my favorites, including this “Write from my Heart” Eco-Friendly Note Pad.  I couldn’t have been more thrilled to decorate our display windows this month, because we decided on an eco-friendly theme.  And yes, they came out fantastic, if I do say so myself.  The centerpiece is a green lime tree, set on a natural earth tone table cloth.  The runner is a sort of bamboo material, and green napkins are folded fan style on the plates.  Each place setting is adorned with green topiary place card holders that incorporate with the look of the centerpiece, leaf votive tea light holders, and these Tree Design Wooden Favor Boxes, which I also love.  Surrounding the table setting are a number of other eco-friendly favors, mostly in brown or green hues to match the color scheme.  If you walk by the window you’ll see a variety of bird nests, wooden birdhouses, natural fans, seed favors, and more.  These favors aren’t just cute, but they’re good for the environment, too.

There are a number of other ways to really go green with an eco-friendly wedding besides your favors.  For starters, your invitations are the first thing you’re going to choose.  Not only can you have them printed on recycled paper, but you can have them eco-friendly right down to the ink:  environmentally friendly ink is usually soy-based.  Consider recycled paper for your other paper goods, too:  place cards, save the dates, thank you cards, programs, and possibly even your menu—which can feature organic food, and even be served on organic dinnerware.  There are also plenty of organic wines to sample and choose from, too.

Even though flowers technically do grow in the ground, cut flowers are actually very toxic.  Luckily, simply by some researching, you’ll be able to find organic floral suppliers.  Another option is growing your own flowers, or maybe choosing greenery instead—that will really coordinate with your “green” wedding!  Your attire can be eco-friendly too:  if you’re looking for a light, summery dress to wear at your beach themed wedding, organic cotton is a great choice.  The hot weather isn’t for everyone, though, so if your event takes place in a cooler season, cotton may be a little too thin.  Besides cotton, other organic fabric can include hemp or bamboo.  Plus, if you’re looking for colors for your bridesmaids’ dresses, you can always choose dresses made with low-impact/vegetable dye.  With a little bit of research, you can also find eco-friendly wedding bands.  Mining, whether it is for gold or other gems, is actually very destructive.  So, another great idea is to favor some hand-me-downs.  If you don’t have someone to pass a ring along to you, shop around at thrift shops for older, antique rings.  You’d be surprised at the quality after a little TLC.  Not only will the rings have a vintage feel and look, but they’ll have a little more of a sentimental background.

I hope this article inspires all of you brides-to-be to consider an eco-friendly wedding, or maybe just Eco-Friendly Wedding Favors.  Happy Monday!

Gorgeous Cheap Wedding Favors – Who Knew?

May 12, 2010

Beautifully Beaded Place Card & Photo Frames

Beautifully Beaded Place Card & Photo Frames

When you think cheap wedding favors, you may just think: cheap.  I mean how could something that costs .99 cents be quality?  Of course with many things, you get what you pay for – and that certainly holds true with certain items.  A .50 cent Round Silver Mint Tin, is afterall, a mint tin.  But there are some gems out there that not only are cheap, but of good quality and value.

Here are 10 great cheap wedding favors that are gorgeous, bestselling and very popular.  These are our recommendations to you if you are on a budget and are looking to give something worth while.

  1. Beautifully Beaded Place Card Frames – perfect for displaying your seating assignments and holding your thank you photos.  Available in Silver or Gold and priced just right.  A bestseller and something the girls and I love in the office.
  2. Heart Book Lovers Collection Bookmark – I have been recently reading a few books at night before bed, but I didn’t have a bookmark to mark my page (can you imagine?) So I took a sample of this bookmark from our showroom.  Perfect for weddings and love themed events, but I would also recommend any of the bookmarks in the “Book Lover’s” line  as they are all made the same way just in different designs: heart, fleur de lis, castle, starfish, peace sign, snowflake, key and butterfly.  Although they aren’t very large, they are packaged well and for .89 cents you can’t go wrong.
  3. Personalized Hershey Kisses – Who doesn’t like chocolate? With over 50 designs and at .30 cents each, fill a huge bowl on each table of these yummy treats.  Featured in Modern Bride Magazine.
  4. Calla Lily Bouquet Candles – A bestseller, with good feedback from our customers and pretty to look at.  I really can’t see your guests actually using them, but rather displaying them in their homes.  Really cute design!
  5. Crystal Heart Keychain -  I love these as wedding and bridal shower favors.  I happen to like keychains, and the quality, price and packaging can’t be beat.  One of our favorites in the shop!
  6. Monogrammed Purse Mirror – Perhaps not perfect for a wedding, but great for a shower, these are the one mirrors I would recommend.  While the other mirrors are quite popular, they are made of hard plastic and i think the Monogrammed Mirrors with a fabric overlay, are just better quality for the price at about a dollar.
  7. Place Card Holders – If you are looking for a place card holder, while these are not exceptionally popular, they are of outstanding weight and quality: Contemporary Heart Place Card Holders and Silver Plated Wedding Cake Place Card Holders (Seen in Modern Bride).  I would recommend them to our brides for quality and price.
  8. Butterfly Magnets – (also available in starfish and fall leaf designs) – there are very few refrigerators in this country without a magnet attached to them, so for practical purposes, magnets are fun favors.  The quality of these magnets combined with the cards they come with make an outstanding choice for wedding favors.
  9. Personalized Candy Jars – very popular with our brides this year, you can personalize these in so many colors and designs.  For .99 cents on most of the jars we offer, which includes the personalized stickers, just fill with candy and you have a great pop of color to your tables.  We use our extra jars in our office to hold paper clips and pushpins.
  10. Fleur de lis Soaps – I love the fleur de lis motif and its also quite popular this year among brides.  These soaps smell good, look good and are packaged well for their price.

Hope this has given you some good ideas of what it worth the money in the cheap wedding favors category, if you have any questions please feel free to leave us a comment or send us a question, we would love to help you plan your perfect day!

Always <3 Erica
