Halloween Favors & Wedding Edibles for Spooky Soirées

Oct 14, 2011

Doesn’t everyone love Halloween?  I certainly do:  there’s something about the cool weather, changing leaves, carving pumpkins, dressing up as whatever I want and eating a ton of candy that really brings back a lot of memories and reminds me that fall is in full swing.  Though I’ve attended many Halloween parties, I’ve always wanted to have one of my own – complete with the silly games of feeling wet noodles and thinking they’re brains, telling ghost stories and even creating my very own haunted house.  Of course, no party is complete without favors, and this season we’ve devoted an entire section to Halloween party favors.

From what I’ve seen, most hosts usually visit their local party store for favors for their freaky affair.  Goodie bags filled with candy and other spooky trinkets like spider rings and vampire fangs are classic, but if you really want to present your guests with something unique and memorable, you’re looking in the right place.  In true spirit, most of our Halloween favors are edible and designed with ghosts, Jack-o-lanterns and other familiar Halloween characters.  My favorites are our pumpkin design brownies (they’re soooo good!), marshmallow and krispy pops designed to look like ghosts, mummies, Frankenstein and much more.  We also offer an extensive line of personalized Halloween favors, like chocolates and maple syrup bottles.

You certainly don’t have to limit these favors to Halloween favors.  Haven’t you heard of a Halloween themed wedding?  Although I assume they’re won’t be many this year, as the holiday is on a Monday, I’ve seen it happen in the past.  Halloween definitely isn’t just for kids – you can tell all your guests to skip the heels, dresses and suits and wear their favorite costume.  You can use our tasty Halloween favors as wedding favors or wedding edibles, or use our unique broomstick place card holders to seat your guests.

Have a great weekend!  And I hope everyone enjoys this year’s Halloween too! – Kelsey

How Would You Trash Your Wedding Dress?

Jun 24, 2011

Yesterday, the girls at Little Things Wedding Favors and I were talking, and somehow got onto the topic of ruining the wedding gown – otherwise known as “trashing the dress.”  Immediately, I thought, “what a great idea for a blog!”  So here I am, about to tell you some great ideas for trashing the dress if you’re planning on doing it after your wedding…or even if you weren’t planning on it.

1.  Running away to a tropical beach for your honeymoon?  Got room in your luggage?  Nix the bathing suit for the first day:  take a swim in the gown.  Water is the most popular way to trash the dress, whether you’re jumping off a cliff in Jamaica or just standing in the waves while they crash at the shore.

2.  Burn it.  This is probably a little more difficult, daring and dangerous to do though.  You may want to make sure you have the property to do it, or a fire pit, and a hose nearby.  So if you can do it, douse the dress in lighter fluid and drop a match.

3.  Get down and dirty.  Roll in the mud, ladies!  It’ll be a fun time, and you can give the expression “as happy as a pig in mud” a whole new meaning.

4.  Are you and your beau artists?  Or do you just want to make a mess?  You and your hubby can have a paint war!  Grab a couple of cans and splatter away.  Or create a masterpiece with spray paint on the gown.

How did you trash your dress?  Or how would you trash your dress?  We’d love to hear your unique ideas – please comment and share!

Have a great weekend!

What’s New at Little Things

Jun 15, 2011

It’s been over a month since I’ve blogged, but we’ve been busy little beavers here at Little Things, with busy wedding season rolling in and all.  I would imagine Team Little Things preparing for busy wedding season compares to Santa & his elves preparing for Christmas, but instead of making toys and wrapping presents, we’re trying to spruce up our site and showroom, and get as many new wedding favors out there as we can.  If you’ve been shopping our site often and paying close attention, you may notice some things we’re trying out to not only make the wedding experience more fun for you brides, but overall, more efficient.

Here’s some new things that have been going on at Little Things lately:

Weekly Deals & Steals – Every week, we change our promotion.  Most of the time you’ll find a 20% discount off a specific section on our site, or just a 10% site wide coupon, but this week we’re running an extra special list of coupons to choose from in honor of our 8th anniversary.  Check out the site to find out more!

Facebook Giveaways – If you haven’t done it already, go “like” us on Facebook!  By doing so, you’ll see a giveaway every Wednesday for one lucky bride.  Our prizes range from anything like tiaras to full blown wedding collections.  All you have to do is comment on the post and wait 24 hours until we pick a winner.

Squidoo Lens of the Day – Nikita tries to posts lenses as often as she can, most of the time focusing on a specific wedding theme and recommending a bunch of fun ideas and wedding favors to incorporate with that theme.

Best Sellers & New Arrivals – We just updated both of these sections:  if you’re shopping our best sellers, you’ll find that these are the most up-to-date and trending items right now.  Our new arrivals section (for both favors and accessories) have also been cut down, considering all those pages were probably a little overwhelming.  So this is completely beneficial for your brides who like to be in the know of what’s hot.

International Shipping - Though we partnered with Bongo International quite a while ago now, it seems that more brides from all over the world are shopping our site.  We used to be limited to which countries we could ship to, but this new partnership has allowed us to ship pretty much anywhere, and is much safer for everyone involved.  Check out the banner of flags at the bottom of our website for more details.

Beverage Wedding Favors - A lot of our beverage favors, like personalized hot cocoa, lemonade, and coffee (basically any of those with item code prefix LDD, excluding honey jars) now have tier pricing available – which means the more you order, the cheaper it gets.  And for these particular items, you now have the option of paying a small extra fee to get them shipped assembled (that means no more slaving away and sticking labels on your favors).  These items also ship out fairly quickly, so if you’re in a bind, feel free to call us so we can try to accommodate your needs.

I’m trying to get all that needs to be done on the site taken care of, so I can go back to blogging regularly.  I miss it!

Hope all is well with all our readers.  <3 Kelsey

Fun Graduation Party Favors

May 4, 2011

Whenever someone talks about graduating, I can’t get the march out of my head.  Though I have quite a while until I hear that song again, it’s not long before seniors will soon have the tune ringing in their ears.  After all, May has already started, and summer is just around the corner!  So for everyone who is shopping for graduation favors, you’ve come to the right place.  That’s right – Little Things not only has wedding favors, but graduation favors too!  And some of the best ones at that!  Here are some of my favorite favors for graduations.

1.  Wise Owl Rice Krispies Treats – If you don’t think these little morsels are adorable, you’ll certainly think they’re delicious.  These sprinkle-covered, cap-bearing owls are brand new to Little Things, and sure to be a hit among all the grads!

2.  “Graduations” Antique-Finish Photo Frame/Place Card Holder (Set of Four) – Whether you’re having a formal party with seating assignments, or just want to give your guests a frame to remember their final days of school, these place card frames are the most popular choice.  The catch?  There’s only limited stock available – so hurry up and place your orders before this favor is no longer available.

3.  Graduation Hat Boxes – A simple gift to hold a simple treat.  These favor boxes are practically exact replicas of a traditional black graduation cap.  Fill ‘em up with candy and feed your guests’ sweet teeth.

4.  Graduation Key Ring Favors – I think a key chain is the perfect gift to give graduates.  If you think about it, what exactly do they get to remember such a fine day?  The tassle from their cap (unless if they threw it with the hat), and a diploma?  No fun!  These key chains are especially great for schools who are looking for a low-budget gift or giveaway to give to their students who are soon to be gone.

5.  Personalized Graduation Favors – If you go directly to our graduation favors, you’ll find that most of the first items on the page feature the “Free Personalization” banner, and these have to be my favorite ones of all!  These fun favors have the most modern and contemporary designs available, making these favors one of a kind.

Take 20% off all graduation favors using the coupon code Grad20 upon checkout.  Or, just take 10% off your entire order using Grad10.  Offer ends on Saturday, May 7, 2011 @ Midnight EST.

Congrats, grads!  <3 Kelsey

The Royal Wedding…Favors!

Apr 29, 2011

So I know a ton of you watched the Royal Wedding live on TV this morning. Although I didn’t wake up at 4 AM to watch it, I did catch a few bits and pieces of it throughout the day. What did you guys think of Kate’s dress? Did anyone see the wedding cake? Or better yet, the menu? What a feast! Being a Little Things employee, I can’t help but wonder what wedding favors they featured! After a little bit of research, the rumor is that they had originally planned on giving their guests limited-edition scarves made of fine wool that were custom designed by a extremely posh apparel company in India. Little Things doesn’t offer these chic and expensive scarves, so here’s what I think William & Kate (now the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge) would use if they bought their wedding favors from us.

1. Crown Bottle Stoppers with Crystals (in styles King or Queen) – I love these bottle stoppers, mostly because they’re great quality and really stylish. These stoppers would add sparkle to any “castle!”

2. Fairytale Design Trinket Box – These trinket boxes may be low in cost, but they’re fit for royalty! Trinket boxes have been some of our most popular wedding favors in the past season, and this intricate crown style is definitely one of the finest.

3. Crown Design Picture Frame – Kate & William’s guests would have no problem finding their seat with these elegant place card frames. And they’re perfect for holding pictures afterwards.

4. Antique Silver Crown Toasting Flutes & Server Set – They can make a toast and slice their cake in a regal style.

5. Finally, (although I’m sure Kate’s is MUCH nicer), we offer a ton of bridal tiaras – but these are great alternatives for brides who can’t afford one as lavish as the Duchess’.

We welcome Marko, the leader of our Search Engine Marketing department, back to the states today! Marko resides in Helsinki, Finland but has once again decided to come visit his fellow employees here in America.

PS – Don’t forget to take 10% off your order using the coupon code Cake10 upon checkout – expires tomorrow! And if your order totals $249 before the discount, you can select a free cake topper! See site for details.

Enjoy your weekend, and the nice weather! <3 Kelsey

The Best Bridal Shower Favors

Apr 7, 2011

I absolutely love bridal showers.  Maybe not as much as I love weddings, but definitely a lot.  Mostly because it’s the perfect girl’s day out, that is, if it’s not a Jack and Jill Bridal Shower.  What’s just as good as a bridal shower in its entirety?  Bridal shower favors, of course!  If you’re shopping our website this week, you’ll find that you receive a 20% discount on all of our bridal shower favors.  Below, you’ll find a list of some of our most popular and best selling favors strictly for bridal showers.

1.  ‘Pink Polka Purse’ Manicure Set Bridal Shower Favors – An oldie but a goodie!  This whimsical manicure kit makes the “purse-fect” gift for your guests.  It’s cute, practical, and girly!

2.  “Hooked On Love” White Heart Shaped Purse Hook – If you ask me, purse hooks are cute, but I’d be a little embarassed to whip my out on a date.  Regardless, they are extremely practical, considering I HATE putting my bag on the floor (and yes, they really do work – my bag must weigh at least 5 pounds).  I especially like this purse hook because its sleek and simple, and folds.

3.  “Love & Kisses” Personalized Lip Balm Stick (Set of 12) – If you’re like me and appreciate a good chapstick, you’ll really like these.  I’m obsessed with lip balm and not only carry one on me at all times, but stash them in places like my car and desk, and keep many backups in my handbag.  These lip balms certainly have the best personalization options available.

4.  “Something Blue” Mirror Compact – This isn’t one of our best sellers, but it’s loved by brides-to-be because the “Tiffany Blue” theme is becoming extremely popular.  So when brides come in looking for favors to match this classy theme, I recommend this:  it’s not only cute, but practical.

5.  “Slice of Style” Stainless Steel High Heel Cake Server – Cake servers may not be used all the time, but they’re the perfect necessity when you’re hosting a party.  This cake server is great because it may look girly in its packaging, but when you take it out it just looks like a modern and unique cake server – so the men won’t be afraid to use it later on.

6.  It’s a Shoe Thing” Shoe Bottle Opener Wedding Favors – Pop the top with this trendy shoe bottle opener.  The high-heeled shoe theme is a classic and unforgettable bridal shower theme – what girl doesn’t appreicate a sexy set of kitten heels?

7.  “Dressed For Tea” Dress Shaped Tea Infuser – The tea party is another popular bridal shower theme.  This favor is the perfect combination of tea and bridal shower.  Pair it with a personalized favor jar filled with loose tea and voila – the sweetest favor.

8.  A Perfect Reflection – Wedding Dress Mini Candle (Set of 6) – I’m personally not a fan of candles, but when brides want a candle for their bridal shower, they’re usually looking for one that’s specifically a dress.  This one is brand new and definitely the nicest one we offer:  great quality and great packaging too.

9.  “First Class Fashionista” High Heel Luggage Tag – You can never have too many shoes, and that includes shoe favors.  This luggage tag has been a favorite by brides for a long time now, and it’s no wonder why.  Practicality meets style.

10.  “Oh, So Cosmopolitan” Reversible Recipe Coaster – This coaster is the perfect addition to any cocktail hour – not just the one at the bridal shower!  Unlike most coasters, you don’t have to worry about this one breaking.  And it features a simple cosmo recipe on the back.

Don’t forget, many of our wedding favors work as bridal shower favors too.  Save 10% site wide this week by using Shower10, or 20% on all favors from our bridal shower section by using Shower20.

Happy shopping!  <3 Kelsey

Incorporating Pets into Your Wedding

Oct 29, 2010

I, as well as the other girls here at Little Things, absolutely love animals.  Erica owns three Shih Tzus, I own two Shorkies (Shih Tzu / Yorkie), as well as a Pomeranian / Chihuahua, Kristi has a Yorkie, and Jessica owns a Malti-Poo.  If you’re a dog or even a cat owner, you know that they become a part of the family.  A wedding is a large celebration, and who do you invite?  Your closest friends and family, of course.  So why not have your pets be a part of the wedding too?

Wedding etiquette has certainly evolved, and today man’s best friend can turn into your best man for a day.  Or your flower “pet,” or even your ring bearer (by using this clever Pet Ring Ring Pillow).  Yes, it has become very popular for couples to incorporate their pets into their weddings!  Is your furry friend going to be standing by your side on the big day as your best man or maid of honor?  Then be sure to spruce them up in this “Best Pet” Wedding Bow.  Hey, Carrie Underwood did it!  But if you’re going the human route, instead dress them up in this wedding bandana.  This adorable keepsake bandanna states ten matter-of-fact reasons why they should have been the one standing by your side.

If your dog or cat is just attending your wedding as a guest, be sure he dresses appropriately in this pet tuxedo.  Or perhaps they’re the ones getting married–we’re not kidding around; people do send their pets up to the altar to get hitched!  You can even host your wedding ceremony or reception at a pet friendly venue for your pooch guests.  Some people may think this modern custom to be a bit on the strange side.  But here at Little Things we believe in and support true love no matter what!

Have a great weekend!  PS – Be sure to check out all our hot new wedding favors.  <3 Kelsey

A Gothic Wine Theme Wedding

Oct 20, 2010

Every month here at our Little Things showroom in Sayreville, NJ, we change out our display windows.  We pick a theme, and usually try to incorporate it with the current month or season.  This month we’ve chosen a Gothic Wine theme display.  Since we’re very limited on Halloween themed favors (though we have a lot of orange, there’s not a lot of pumpkins or ghoul-ish favors), we decided to go with a purple color scheme with lots of purple, black and silver favors.  We were also able to incorporate a lot of our most popular wine theme wedding favors.

We started off by looking for centerpiece and window accents.  We hung black paper chandeliers from the ceiling, and found a twisted, branch-like wine rack and filled it with black red wine bottles – one is even called Vampire!  We also found a candelabra-esque piece covered in tiny black and purple beads.  A glitterly, silver skull head, faux grapes and big purple pumpkins complete the table decorations.  The place settings sit atop a black table cloth, silver runner, and purple place mats.  All of the place settings are neatly topped with black napkins in silver holders.

We scatter some of our most popular wine wedding favors and purple wedding favors around the windows.  We even took a video of the window and posted it up on YouTube!  You can check the video out here.  Special thanks to Erica for taping it, and to me for doing all the talking!

Other great wine wedding favors that weren’t featured in our window or the video include stemless wine glasses, which are one of our most popular wine themed favors.  Wine bottle stoppers, coasters, and wine charms are also favorites of all the girls here in the office.

Happy Wednesday!  <3 Kelsey

Quote of the Day

Oct 11, 2010

My heart to you is given: oh, do give yours to me; we’ll lock them up together, and throw away the key.” ~Frederick Saunders

Ah, love poems and quotes. Here at our showroom in Sayreville, NJ, we adore them. We have quotes on our walls in the office/showroom, and every day our facebook is updated with a love quote.

I myself love quotes and am constantly searching for them to update my own profile with. Today, when thinking of a blog topic, I remembered reading Erica’s wedding poem post back in April. So I decided to find a sweet poem or quote relevant to not only love, but weddings as well.

The poem above is not only the writer expressing his undying love to his beau, but asking for theirs in return and proposing a marriage. After all, “lock them up together” must mean getting married. How else do you ensure true love? Throwing away the key is definitely something you do in marriage as well, since once you marry there is no turning back (yes, I know, there’s divorce, but that’s not the point).

Love quotes are also a nice touch if you’re writing your own vows. Some of the best speeches in history are ended with a quote, so why not end yours with one? Sometimes members of the bridal party volunteer to read a poem at the ceremony, too. These are great ways to incorporate quotes and poems into your wedding.

I’m still on the hunt for finding my favorite love quote. I asked the girls in the office if they had a favorite, and Alecia told me this:

“Now join your hands, and with your hands, your hearts.” ~William Shakespeare

Though not intended for love, but more for marriage, she thinks it sounds pretty (and I agree). What’s your favorite love quote?

We’re here not only to assist you with wedding favors, but with accessories – even love advice! (haha.)

Happy birthday to Kristi!  Enjoy your week, everyone.  <3 Kelsey
