Industrial Wedding Theme Ideas

Jan 22, 2016

Industrial wedding theme? What’s that you ask? Why it’s the urban city’s answer to rustic, country weddings!  While the city may not have the good ‘ol home charm that country weddings do, the city has a plethora of backdrops that are both rustic and modern.  Think loft spaces, art galleries, old warehouses, rooftop bars and gardens, breweries – even old movie studios!  The walls of these places are usually made of bricks or concrete.  They have high ceilings, awesome views, wooden or metal crossbeams and a vibe that you can only get from the city.  Modern meets vintage – you can easily blend elements from your favorite wedding themes with shiny new elements to create the perfect blend that is all you.  Mixed metals with concrete create a look that is once of a kind.  From silver to gold, or even copper (think rose gold!) Industrial weddings are starting to soar in popularity as an alternative to the long used rustic theme.  Let’s take a look at 2 Industrial wedding palettes that are new and inspiring.

Which one do you prefer, the cool, sleek tones of the silver or the warm tones of the copper?  Industrial weddings are simple in design yet massive in style.  This is one wedding theme that doesn’t require lush floral elements or expensive centerpieces.  The reception space that you use brings enough drama to make it magnificent. Wedding Napkins Personalize Your Reception

Jan 11, 2016

They seem small and maybe even insignificant – after all they are just napkins after all.  But personalized wedding napkins really are more than an ordinary napkin.  They add pops of color to your reception – they can be used during the cocktail hour, the reception and even for dessert.  Some brides buy the longer ones and use them in the bathrooms.  It’s all about the little things, the tiny details that makes turns your wedding from ordinary to extraordinary.

kraft wedding napkins

Let’s talk about sizes, shapes and what you can do with your wedding napkins.  Having a cocktail wedding, or cocktail hour?  Use the beverage size to hand out drinks in lieu of coasters.  Use them when you are serving hors d’oeuvres – you don’t need larger sizes at this time.  Not only do people use them, but some old school guests will keep one or two as a memory of the wedding.

During your dinner (or if you’re hosting a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner) use the lunecheon size.  These are typically 2 inches larger thank the cocktail size.  Great if you are having a buffet style dinner or carving stations where guests need a little larger size than just for beverages.  Or you can select the dinner size which are typically rectangular, and can also be used for guest towels in the lavatories.

Finally during dessert time, or on your candy, cake and coffee tables you’ll want to go back to  your beverage size napkins.  Think smaller plates = smaller napkins.

Ok, so now you know what sizes of napkins you’ll need for your wedding – what about personalizing them?  Traditionally, personalized wedding napkins like the ones shown above are customized with a design, monogram initial, monogram and your names and date.  They are pretty classic and inexpensive too – about .40 cents per napkin (in any size!) AND they come in 35 different colors and even more ink and foil colors to imprint on them.  But if you’re looking for something non-traditional or even more modern why not try trendy wedding words and sayings on them such as:

our Eat, Drink and Be Married napkins (you can change the text color to match your wedding.)  or one of these fun sayings below:

There’s even wedding napkin designs that can list your signature cocktails

or napkins that can list fun facts about the couple that your guests may not know about you

A Perfect DIY Lemonade Recipe for Your Backyard Wedding

May 19, 2015

If you’re looking for a perfect drink for a rustic, summer, backyard or farm wedding then lemonade is a perfect way to celebrate.  It is a cheap DIY recipe that can easily serve hundreds of guests for virtually pennies a glass – can easily be made hard for adults with a splash of alcohol (served on the side) and is also perfect for those attendees who are under the age to drink.  Perfect in classic yellow or in pretty pink, lemonade is a refreshing drink for your summer time wedding.  Here’s a great recipe for DIY wedding lemonade:

You may think you know exactly how to make lemonade – just squeeze some lemons into sugared water and you’ve got a refreshing drink to quench your thirst. By using this method, you’ll get your lemonade…but not the best!

Most experts will agree that the trick to making the best lemonade involves making sugar syrup. If you notice, dumping sugar into water won’t disperse – all the sugar will sink to the bottom, and you’ll get a workout stirring it to make it all dissolve. Instead, dissolve the sugar in hot water to ensure that the sugar is evenly distributed.

One cup of sugar mixed with one cup of water will create the sweetest concoction. (Of course, you can reduce the sugar if you wish it too be less sweet.) Combine the contents into a saucepan over low heat on your stove to dissolve the sugar evenly. This is how you make your sugar syrup.

Six lemons should create enough lemon juice – squeeze them out as much as you can, or use a juicer if you have one handy. You may want to use a strainer to get those pesty seeds out afterward.

Combine your sugar syrup, lemon juice and 3-4 cups of water (depending on your taste) to a pitcher and mix. Refrigerate the lemonade or add ice and there you have it – the perfect homemade lemonade.

You can always garnish your lemonade with a few more slices of fresh lemons, or even other fruits such as strawberries, raspberries (this not only adds a bit of extra flavor, but is a natural way of making pink lemonade) or even blueberries. A couple of mint sprigs also add a lovely touch.

We understand that when planning involves a lot of time and effort, and you may not have the time to make your delicious lemonade for all your guests! That’s why we offer these handy lemonade mix favors that are already packaged in single servings so your guests can enjoy a glass of the refreshing beverage when they get home.  But if offering packets of lemonade mix isn’t for you, you could also use these adorable mason jars with flower lids (shown above) for an additional DIY touch.

10 Mistakes to Avoid When Purchasing Wedding Favors

Aug 26, 2014

With so many tasks to coordinate for your wedding, selecting and purchasing your wedding favors may or may not make it to the top of your priority list. But this seemingly simple task can turn into a major headache if you make one of these top 10 common mistakes when ordering your wedding favors. Read this list to avoid the most common errors and make ordering your favors easy and worry free.

1. Ordering Your Favors Too Late
Most items will take time to process before they leave the warehouse to ship to you, plus it takes time for UPS to deliver to your neck of the woods. Make sure you calculate processing time + transit time to know exactly how much time you need before hand to place an order. If you’re ordering personalized items, you may need even more lead time. And don’t forget to take into account time to assemble or gift wrap them – you’ll need the favors in your hands a few weeks before the wedding.

2. Ordering Your Favors Too Early
There’s nothing like the excitement of being engaged and getting things on your wedding planning checklist checked off – but if you order your wedding favors too early, you run the risk of them getting damaged from sitting around your house (dust, fading from the sun or broken from Rover crashing into the box), getting stale (if they are edible) or not ordering enough, needing more and having them items be discontinued because you ordered them a day after your engagement, 2 years ago. The best time to order your favors is about 2 months before the wedding.

3. Ordering Too Few
With your budget on your mind you may be tempted to order less, but ordering too few and having to re-order more at a later date may result in you meeting minimum quantities or paying a higher per piece price for a lower quantity. A great rule of thumb is: 1 favor per couple or per single. So if your wedding has 100 people consisting of 45 couples and 5 singles+1’s – you will need 55 favors – NOT 100. The only exception to this rule applies to edible favors only: give one edible (candy bar, brownie, cupcake, etc.) per person.

4. Not Reading The Details Of The Item
Always check the size, details, color and any pertinent information located with the item description. Computers often give the illusion that items may appear bigger than they actually are. That’s because websites take photographs up close to show the intricate details of smaller items. Monitors are notorious for displaying colors differently too. So, always check all the details listed so you aren’t surprised when the item arrives.

5. Not Reading The Return and Damage Policies
Personalized items, custom made to order items and edibles are often not able to be returned. Items which are received damaged may need to follow special procedures such as calling to report the damage when the item arrives and not two months later. Read all the fine print so you’re not surprised by it. And if you’re still not sure, contact the company before ordering!

6. Not Double Checking Personalization Information
Let’s face it, we all make typos! However, the order processor on the other end of the screen is not a mind reader and probably doesn’t know you misspelled your fiancé name Philip, when his name is actually, Phillip. Avoid costly errors by double checking everything you order that is going to be personalized.

7. Inputting the Wrong or Incorrect Contact Info On Your Order
Double check your contact information – providing the wrong email, telephone or even address can delay your order, prevent UPS from delivering it to you or cause the order to be cancelled. Companies need the correct information to make sure your order arrives to you timely.

8. Having A Friend or Relative Place An Order For You
Often well meaning friends or relatives will place orders for the couple but accidentally order the wrong items, incorrect quantity, color, style or even personalization. If a friend or relative wants to order your favors for you, make sure to look over the order, order the items while your with her or double check the order confirmation.

9. Not Inspecting Your Order When It Arrives
No wedding company wants to make mistakes – we want to make every bride happy! But mistakes do happen occasionally and that is why it is important to check your order immediately when it arrives. The box could have been mislabeled, UPS could have played football with your package, or the packer could have misread the item number and pulled the wrong item. We’re not saying this happens often – but in order to fix any issue that may come up – the quicker you inspect your package, the quicker the company can resolve any problems.

10. Not Calling With Specific Requests
If you have a tight deadline or a specific request such as to leave a package with a signature required – call the company and speak to a representative directly – especially if it is a time sensitive request.

Happy shopping!

Make A Toast With Wedding Champagne Flutes

Jul 29, 2014

Next to cake toppers, guest books and pen sets, wedding champagne flutes are one of the most popular wedding accessories on the market.
